Moscow police are checking retail outlets at the All-Russia Exhibition Center following reports that it stocks Chinese fur coats made of domestic cat skins, city police said on Monday.
An animal protection group sent a formal complaint to police on Friday alleging the outlet had a long record of violations.
A group activist said the shop assistants said it was wildcat, not domestic cat fur.
“So we sent a petition to the police asking that they do a check and demanded that the import of domestic cat fur from China be banned,” the activist said.
