MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The 24th edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) will be held in 2021, the Roscongress Foundation, which organises the forum, said on Tuesday.
"XXIV SPIEF will be held in 2021," Roscongress said.

The 2020 edition of the forum, which was due to be held from June 3-6, was cancelled to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.

The move came after the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced an emergency of international importance due to the coronavirus outbreak and information about its spread in the countries participating in the forum.

The SPIEF is a major global platform for communication between business representatives and the discussion of pressing economic issues.

Last year's forum brought together over 19,000 participants from 145 countries, setting a new record in the history of the event.
