Chinese Man Pleads Guilty in Theft of Military Documents From US Company

A Chinese national accused of conspiring to steal confidential military-program information from US aircraft maker United Technologies pleaded guilty in a federal court in the state of Connecticut, the Department of Justice said in a release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – According to prosecutors, Yu Long, 38, who worked as a senior engineer at a United Technologies research facility, stole numerous sensitive documents from the company knowing the "offense would benefit a foreign government, foreign instrumentality or foreign agent," Monday’s release asserted.

"He also pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful export and attempted export of defense articles from the US in violation of the Arms Export Control Act," the release added of Long.

If convicted of both offenses, Long could be sentenced to a 35-year prison term, according to the release.
