Russian Team Allowed to Participate in Rio Olympics - ROC Official
13:59 GMT 24.07.2016 (Updated: 18:10 GMT 24.07.2016) Russia’s team was allowed to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Alexander Zhukov.
"We are going to Rio!" Alexander Zhukov said as quoted by Russia's Sport Express newspaper.
The IOC made a decision
not to ban the entire Russian team from participating in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, leaving it to the respective International Federations to decide on whether individual Russian athletes will be participating in the competition.
The IOC also noted that Russian athletes with a doping record will be suspended from participating in the competition, including Russian track and field athletes who will not be able to take part in the Games in accordance with the previous decision made by IAAF.
