MANAMA (Sputnik) — The prosecutor pointed out that the investigation revealed the suspects intended to stir up anti-government moods among Bahrainis. He also said that he had evidence of their part in espionage, including their own admissions.

"The investigation in relation to the 18 suspects, eight out of whom have been in hiding, on charges of spying for Iran and the Lebanese Shiite organization Hezbollah, has been terminated and their cases have been forwarded to the court," Hamadi said.

The investigation found that the suspects had supplied Iranian and Lebanese nationals with reports on the political, economic and social situation in Bahrain, and also sent the reports on their activities on undermining the security of the kingdom.

Furthermore, the investigation found that the suspects had sent reports on economic and social situation in Bahrain, as well as their own activities to undermine stability in the kingdom, to Iranian and Lebanese nationals.

The trial is set to begin on June 28, according to Hamadi.
