TEL AVIV, July 11 (RIA Novosti) — The Israeli Army intercepted three Palestinian missiles above its second most populated city Tel Aviv, which has been under attack for four days, while an operation against militants in Gaza is being carried out, the Army's press service said Friday in a statement.

"Three missiles have been launched toward Israel's center, all three have been intercepted," the statement read.

Earlier in the day, a missile hit a gas station in the city of Ashdod. An Israeli citizen was seriously injured while seven others were wounded by debris, according to local emergency medical services. No fatal casualties or serious damages have been reported.

Medical workers said they have treated 126 Israelis since the beginning of the attacks, most of whom were stressed and sought psychological help.

So far, Israel has been able to ward off all the attacks on the city, a popular tourist destination with a population of 400,000. It used its Iron Dome air defense system to intercept the missiles.

Since Tuesday, when Israel started a military operation against the militants in the Gaza Strip, 255 rockets have landed on Israeli territory, while 67 were intercepted.

Palestine lost 98 people in the Israeli attacks, while nearly 700 were injured.

The Israel Defense Forces launched the operation Protective Edge, its first military campaign since November 2012, in response to continued air attacks carried out by Palestinian militants. So far the operation has been limited to distant air and naval strikes, although Tel Aviv has said a land campaign is possible and has called up 40,000 personnel from its military reserve force.
