Moscow law enforcers detained a suspect in the murder of the third secretary at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Moscow, which took place this spring, a law enforcement source said on Wednesday.
According to investigators, the suspect added a neuroleptic drug azaleptin to a drink of an embassy official Alokaab Saleh Muhammed in a Moscow restaurant in April 2011. Alokaab died of cardiovascular collapse.
“Security officials detained a suspect […] he turned out to be new to Moscow, from the Tver region, born in 1979,” the source said.
Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said, that the Kuwaiti diplomat had been found dead in central Moscow, the victim’s belongings, a watch, a telephone, his wallet with money and his identity papers, had been stolen.
The motives of the crime have been investigated. A criminal case under the Russian Criminal Code was initiated. If the suspect found guilty, he can face a life imprisonment.
