ANKARA, November 12 (RIA Novosti) - A Turkish vessel bound for India was seized on Wednesday near the coast of Yemen, local media reported.
Turkey's Maritime Affairs Directorate confirmed that the Karagol chemical tanker with 14 people and 4,500 tons of chemicals on board was seized "by pirates 16 miles [25 kilometers] off the coast of Yemen" on Wednesday afternoon.
NATO has informed British Royal Navy vessels in Dubai about the incident.
Karagol is the second Turkish ship to be hijacked in the area in the past two weeks. On October 29 pirates seized a Turkish dry cargo ship and demanded ransom.
