KRASNODAR, January 21 (RIA Novosti) - First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Saturday that the gasification of Russian regions is a major social project linked with national priorities.
"We have more possibilities today to boost gasification," he said. "[Russian energy giant] Gazprom adopted a program that allocates 35 billion rubles [$1.24 billion] for these purposes."
He said Gazprom needed to synchronize its work with that of regional authorities to resolve the problem of gasification.
According to Medvedev, local authorities should be responsible for allocating funds to build gas pipelines in towns and villages.
