KIEV, January 2 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko reported Monday to European Union ambassadors, accredited in Kiev, on the situation concerning the settlement of the Russian natural gas deliveries to and via Ukraine.

"We have had a meeting with ambassadors of the European Union [member states] and reported them on the settlement of the gas conflict [with Russia]," Yushchenko said.

The ambassadors were informed on the situation at the Ukrainian gas market and on the technical characteristics of the country's natural gas balance.

Ukrainian Minister of Fuel and Energy Ivan Plachkov said Monday at a meeting with the country's premier that Ukraine did not siphon the Russian natural gas and that the transit deliveries to Europe continued in a standard mode and at a full volume.

He said gas deliveries from Russia had been reduced by 120 million cu m and that Ukraine used its own gas stock and Turkmenistan's gas.

"Starting today gas deliveries from Turkmenistan [to Ukraine] increased from Sunday's 118 million cu m up to 120 million cu m," Plachkov said.
