MADRID, June 13, (RIA Novosti, Juan Cobo) - An exhibition of Olympic memorabilia that was collected by Russian citizen Oleg Vorontsov living in Madrid opened at a local museum.
Vorontsov's collection is the second largest in the world, comprising over 100,000 objects. Half of them are displayed in Mardid.
Vorontsov was a member of the International Olympic Committee's collection commission in 1993-2003. Spain's Juan Antonio Samaranch headed the IOC back then.
Vorontsov set up his collection in 1973, gathering commemorative Olympic badges. His collection includes the charter of the first modern 1896 Athens Olympics, Olympic torches and mascots, Mishka the Bear of the 1980 Moscow Olympics being a particular attraction.
