DONETSK, October 8 (RIA Novosti) - Another artillery attack has struck the Kuibyshev area of Donetsk, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the scene Wednesday.
The shells hit a local supermarket, restaurant and sports club. At least two people were killed, the number of wounded was not specified.
This area of Donetsk is regularly shelled from the direction of Piski village, which is controlled by Ukrainian troops.
In April, the Kiev authorities launched a special operation, aimed at suppressing pro-independence forces in the southeast of Ukraine that refused to recognize the government that came to power as a result of the February coup.
After the September 5 meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine, Kiev authorities and the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk agreed on a ceasefire, which came into force on the same day.
Since the establishment of the ceasefire, the parties of the conflict have repeatedly accused one another of violating the truce. Shooting can often be heard at Donetsk airport. Independence supporters say that Ukrainian troops are shelling residential areas from there, and militia forces are firing back.
