MOSCOW, September 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's energy giant Gazprom said Wednesday it had not reduced gas deliveries to Poland maintaining their volume at 23 million cubic meters daily.

"Media reports claiming that Gazprom reduced the delivery volume to Poland’s PGNiG company are incorrect,” the company said in a statement.

“Gas volumes currently delivered to Poland remain the same – 23 million cubic meters per day,” the statement said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ukrainian gas transport network operator Ukrtransgaz said Poland had stopped reversed deliveries of Russian gas to Ukraine, claiming that “Russia started limiting gas deliveries to Poland in order to disrupt reversed deliveries from Poland”.

The statement came amid fears of potential troubles with gas transit via Ukraine, which was switched by Gazprom to a prepayment system over Kiev’s gas debt that is estimated to be in excess of $5 billion.

Russia and Ukraine held several rounds of gas talks between April and mid-June without any major results. Kiev insists on a dramatic reduction in prices for Russian gas and refuses to clear its debt. Russia has proposed Ukraine an average annual price of $385 per 1,000 cubic meters, but Ukraine is not accepting the offer.

On Tuesday, Ukraine’s state-run gas company Naftogaz said the stalled Ukrainian gas talks in the Ukraine-Russia-European Commission format could resume on September 16 in Vienna.
