WASHINGTON (Sputnik), Martin Sieff – Comey defended his decision not to seek Clinton’s prosecution over the e-mail scandal earlier in the day before a hearing in the US Congress, but Trump reminded his audience that Clinton had lied to Congress when she promised to turn over all her emails from her four years as secretary of state.
"You look at the FBI director testifying today and you'll say this is not the country that we know and love," Trump, the US Republican presidential nominee, said in Waukesha in the US state of Wisconsin on Wednesday night. "Nobody's ever seen anything like this in this country's history."
Trump noted that Clinton staffers had taken the Fifth Amendment in order to avoid testifying before Congress about their activities for her and that the FBI in its investigation had allowed five senior officials under Clinton to make immunity deals so that they could not be prosecuted about the email scandal.
Republican lawmakers grilled Comey earlier on Wednesday on the FBI's year-long investigation into the potential mishandling of the classified email case, which ended in July when the FBI advised against prosecution and the US Department of Justice terminated the case.
