Former Ottawa Senators forward Alexei Kaigorodov has signed a contract with Salavat Yulaev Ufa till 2014, the KHL team announced Friday.

Kaigorodov, 29, became a free agent Tuesday after 11 seasons, 356 points and 669 games with Metallurg Magnitogorsk before his contract with the Siberian team was terminated by mutual consent.

The center was a second-round draft pick for the Senators in 2002 and spent one season in Ottawa with one point in six NHL appearances.

“I’m very glad to arrive in Ufa. I hope everything will turn out well for me here,” Kaigorodov said on Salavat's website, adding that he was happy to join three other ex-Metallurg players on his new team's roster.

Salavat lifted the Gagarin Cup in 2011, has been inconsistent this season and is eighth in the Eastern Conferences with 10 wins after 21 games.
