Stanley Cup-winning defenseman Sandis Ozolins has left KHL team Dynamo Riga as a free agent and could receive lucrative offers from Russia, Riga board member Guntis Ulmanis has told Latvian radio station Baltkom.

Ozolins won the 1996 Stanley Cup with Colorado Avalanche and was a runner-up in 2003 with the Anaheim Ducks as well as a seven-time all-star before joining Riga in 2009.

"Unfortunately, Ozolins has left," Ulmanis, a former president of Latvia, said.

"I know that there are three or four clubs in Russia that are ready to pay him millions."

Ozolins has linked with a move to Russian team Metallurg Magnitogorsk for reported three million dollars a year.

"That's what a great Latvian ice hockey player is, having such a price at 40 years old [he will turn 40 on August 3]," Ulmanis said.

Since joining Riga, Ozolins has scored 22 goals and made 65 assists in 158 KHL appearances.
