Russian Premier League side FC Rostov on Monday unveiled Miodrag Bozovic as their new coach, hours after his resignation from Amkar Perm was announced.

The 43-year-old Montenegrin left the Siberian side after taking over in September, an appointment aimed at halting the club's downward spiral.

He largely succeeded, taking them from relegation candidates to a tenth-place finish.

A brief statement on Rostov's website said that Bozovic had been introduced to the players.

"He will be the head coach of the yellow-and-blues for next season," the site said. It gave no contract details.

It is unclear whether Bozovic's predecessor at Rostov, former Belarus coach Anatoly Baidachny, resigned or was fired.

Rostov finished escaped relegation after finishing 13th in the league by beating Shinnik Yaroslavl of the first division 4-0 over two legs.

Rostov have also struggled financially this season, with the league’s executive director Sergei Cheban raising the possibility of docking points for unpaid wages, though the threat went unrealized.

Several current and former Rostov players, including Bosnian international midfielder Dragan Blatnjak, complained earlier this year about arrears that they said stretched back several months.

It was Bozovic's second stint at Amkar, taking them in 2008 to a historic high of fourth place and a Europa League berth.

In between he coached FC Moscow before the club was dissolved, and Dynamo Moscow.
