Russia Aiming for Top20 of World Bank Doing Business Ranking

Igor Shuvalov, the Russia's first deputy prime minister called the rising of Russia's climbing by 11 spots in World Bank’s global ranking "a big achievement."

MOSCOW REGION (Sputnik) — Russia can make it into Top20 of World Bank’s global ranking on the ease of doing business after climbing by 11 spots since last year, the country’s first deputy prime minister said Wednesday.

"It is a big achievement," Igor Shuvalov told reporters. "We rose from 120th place to 40th … and there is still room for improvement. We must move fast to claim 20th place."

Russia Advances to 40th Place in World Bank's Doing Business Ranking 2017
Russia came 40th on the DB 2017 Ranking with 73.19 percentage points after landing in 51st place last year and in 120th place in 2011. Most progress was reported in its dealing with construction permits and opportunities of starting a business.

World economies were ranked from 1-190 on how easy it is to start and operate a local firm. New Zealand came first with 87.01 percentage points, followed by Singapore and Denmark with 85.05 and 84.87 points respectively.
