MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Rescuers have found two Russians and three Austrians who got lost on Wednesday night when climbing Mount Elbrus, the Kabardino-Balkaria department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"The rescue operations on Mount Elbrus were fully completed at 5:25 a.m. local time [02:25 GMT]. The lost climbers were found and taken to the glade Azau. Two Russians and three Austrians refused medical assistance," the statement reads.

On Wednesday, a group of climbers got lost on Mount Elbrus at a height of 3,100 meters [about 10,171 feet], below the Hotutau pass, which is an ice plateau southwest of the mount.

Mount Elbrus is the highest peak in Europe and Russia.
