MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - The Minsk Meeting scheduled for August 26 will define at what level the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis is on, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday.

“Everyone expects that the Minsk Meeting will allow the exchange of opinions of the extent that efforts are on in settling the political process with the goal of settling the crisis in Ukraine,” Lavrov said during a briefing.

Lavrov said a series of bilateral meetings will be held in Minsk, where the Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the top leaders of the European Union and the Customs Union will meet on August 26.

According to Poroshenko’s press service, the meeting will address a number of political and economic issues, including Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and the stabilization of the situation in eastern Ukraine.

Last week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her doubts about the meeting seeing a breakthrough in terms of Russia-Ukraine relations, but acknowledged the importance of the meeting.
