MOSCOW, August 15 (RIA Novosti) -The number of Ukrainian refugees sheltered in the Russian temporary accommodation facilities has increased to almost 52,000, an emergency response center representative told RIA Novosti on Friday.

“As of Friday morning, 753 temporary accommodation settlements are allocated in the Russian regions, 13 of them in the last 24 hours. The settlements [currently] accommodate about 51,800 people,” the representative said, adding that almost 35,900 refugees have already been brought to the inner parts of Russia by different means of transportation, including by air.

As Deputy Emergencies Minister Lt. Gen. Vladimir Stepanov said Thursday, not a single field accommodation facility, or tented camp, will be closed until the new refugee accommodation is fully ready.

The refugee camps are usually located in health care, educational and recreational facilities with beds numbering from 50 to several thousand.

If necessary, the tented camps are allocated in the emergency zones. Tents will also be equipped with small stoves and warm wooden floors for cold weather. The refugees are provided with mattresses, blankets and warm clothes. All the tented camps are autonomously powered with diesel generators and have field kitchens, bathrooms and medical centers.

The influx of the Ukrainian refugees to Russia has increased rapidly since June due to the conflict between Donbas independence supporters and Ukrainian forces.
