The French naval group including the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier will stay in the Mediterranean to support the operation to liberate Mosul from Daesh.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The battle group of the French aircraft carrier, which includes Charles de Gaulle, will stay in the Mediterranean until mid-December to support the operation to free the Iraqi city of Mosul, the French government said Wednesday.

"The president of the Republic has decided to prolong the activities of the battle group, contributing to this operation, until mid-December," the French government’s statement read.

The French Security Council met today to discuss the situation in Syria’s Aleppo and the operation to recapture Mosul from Islamists.
