MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The aid has been delivered to residents of Aleppo and Hama provinces, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
"In 24 hours three humanitarian operations were carried out in the course of which the passing of humanitarian cargo to civilians was completed – to the national regional hospital of the city of Hama about 1 tonne, to the al-Ramusi district of the city of Aleppo – about 1 tonne," the center said in a bulletin.
Over recent months, Aleppo has become a major battleground in Syria, which has been in the state of civil war since 2011.
Thousands of civilians are believed to be trapped in Aleppo without access to food, water, electricity or medical assistance as Syrian government troops and rebel forces continue to fight for its control.
