ANKARA (Sputnik) — US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar met at Incirlik Air Base in the south of Turkey, the Turkish General Staff said Tuesday.
"Gen. Akar visited with an inspection the province of Adana and Incirlik Base, where he held talks with US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford," the General Stuff said in a statement obtained by RIA Novosti.
According to the statement, Dunford had arrived at the base to wish the US soldiers happy winter holidays.
Incirlik military base is used by the United States and shelters combat planes of the US-led coalition launching airstrikes in Syria and Iraq against the Islamic State group outlawed in many countries, including Russia.
