'Those Are Our People': Aleppo Governor Pledges Support to Escaping Civilians

The Aleppo governor vowed support to civilians leaving the embattled Syrian province and urged others to follow their example.

ALEPPO (Sputnik) – Aleppo Governor Hussein Diab pledged support on Tuesday to those civilians who fled Aleppo, escaping from the militants and expressed hope that other people would follow their example.

"Those are our people. We have prepared all that is necessary for them in the humanitarian centers. And [we] hope, that the others will follow their example," Diab told journalists.

Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov confirmed that 48 women and children left the Syrian city of Aleppo through a humanitarian corridor accompanied by Russian reconciliation center’s officers and Syrian authorities.

Russian, Syrian Air Forces Ceased Flights Over Aleppo During Last Week
About 3,000 people are reported to stay in the terrorist-controlled territory. During the last 24 hours five people were killed, including one child, and 28 injured.

On Sunday, the government forced started offensive in the south of Aleppo after the end of the humanitarian pause, which started on October 20 to ensure the safe evacuation of unarmed militants, and civilians from eastern Aleppo via eight designated corridors. However, al-Nusra Front, recently renamed as Jabhat Fatah al Sham, prevented civilians who wanted to flee the city, attacking people during their attempts to leave Aleppo.
