The United States welcomes plans to extend the humanitarian pause in Syria's embattled city of Aleppo for one day, US Department of State spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Russian General Staff said on Monday that the humanitarian pause in Aleppo has been extended for one day, from 08:00 to 16:00 local time on October 22.

"I’ve also seen the reports of its extension, which of course we welcome," Kirby stated. "We welcome reports that the pause has largely held, and may be extended."
