Vice President of the French National Front party Florian Philippot stated that Brexit was a positive influence on British economy, as even pound's sliding value could be used to attract tourists.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — France loses 9 billion euros (roughly $9.8 billion) yearly being a member of the European Union, Vice President of the French National Front party Florian Philippot said Sunday.

"Today, we give 22 billion euros [to EU], and we get back 13," Philippot said at the debates with the Republican party member Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, organized by the BFM television broadcaster.

Philippot added that the United Kingdom used to lose about 7 billion euros yearly, which, as a result of Brexit, the country would now be able to retain.

The Vice President also argued that Brexit was a positive influence on British economy, as even pound's value sliding could be used to attract tourists.

In June, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union and the preparations for the "divorce" proceedings have triggered certain instability among financial institutions and various businesses in the United Kingdom.

The National Front party, known for its anti-EU rhetoric, has significantly risen in popularity in France over the last few years.
