16:26 GMT 21.10.2016 (Updated: 17:16 GMT 21.10.2016) Following the revelations that the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) was working secretly with the NSA, Germany's parliament passed new legislation on Friday giving it greater control over the work of the BND.
The German Bundestag passed new legislation that spells the biggest reform of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) in history. However, critics among German politicians say that the effect from the law will be the opposite, as the new legislation is set to grant the BND's more powers making it possible for the agency to spy on European governments and NGOs.
