An energy system accident in Tajikistan has resulted in power outages in nearly 90% of the country's territory, a source in the country's Barqi Tojik energy holding told RIA Novosti on Friday.

DUSHANBE (Sputnik) — The causes of the accident are being investigated.

According to preliminary reports, the accident took place at the Nurek hydroelectric station located some 62 miles east of the country's capital Dushanbe.
