At least 56 people were killed and some 177 wounded after two female suicide bombers carried out a terror attack on Friday in the city of Madagali in Nigeria's northeastern Adamawa State.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — No Russian citizens were killed or injured in a terror attack in northeastern Nigeria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

"According to the data provided, there are no Russian citizens among the casualties. The Russian embassy is in close contact with the Nigerian authorities," the statement said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the attack and expressed its condolences to the families of the victims.

The region has been suffering from the attacks of the Boko Haram extremist group since 2009. The group has pledged allegiance to Daesh (outlawed in Russia and many other countries).
