Taleban leader Mullah Omar on Saturday threatened Shariah justice on those militants who kill peaceful civilians.

“Those Taleban and mujahedeens whose actions cause deaths among peaceful civilians will have to face Shariah justice,” Mullah Omar said in a congratulatory message on the Islamic holiday of Kurban-bajram (feast of sacrifice) posted on the Voice of Jihad website.

Mullah Omar said the Taleban were vehemently opposed to any victims among civilians, and added that the Taleban governors would be overseeing how the order is executed.

The Taleban movement, a radical Islamic group, ruled most of Afghanistan from 1996 until it was overthrown by NATO-led forces following the 9/11 attacks on the United States. It has since transformed into an insurgent movement based in Pakistan and fighting against the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the NATO contingent, mostly with terrorist methods.
