VORONEZH, October 18 (RIA Novosti) - Fourteen people have been arrested in Voronezh on suspicion of involvement in an attack on foreign students, the regional police chief said Tuesday.

"All fourteen suspects in the attack on foreign students...have already confessed their guilt," Lieutenant General Alexander Dementyev said.

On October 9, a group of individuals attacked three foreign students in Voronezh. One of the students, a Peruvian, died at the site from knife wounds and head injuries, while the other two were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Dementyev said before attacking the foreigners the "hooligans" had beaten four Russians who had also been hospitalized.

He added that the attackers were students from "so-called good families." "Most of the attackers are athletes," he said.

The Voronezh Prosecutor's Office said the court had issued arrest warrants for eight of the detainees.
