MOSCOW, October 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday he was surprised by media reports alleging that Russia was secretly supplying Iran with missile technology.
"Similar reports appeared about 10 years go," he said. "The Russian government dealt with each case. I have not heard of any similar problems since then."
"It seems strange that the western press recollected those events today," he said, adding that there could be similar claims against western companies.
Lavrov advised Russian journalists to ask their western colleagues "who had helped Iran develop its nuclear program."
"The Iranian nuclear program is a key issue today," the minister said, adding that it was necessary to focus on non-proliferation.
