MOSCOW, October 22 (RIA Novosti) – The process of deciphering the black boxes from the fatal plane crash of French oil giant Total’s CEO will take two to three days, a spokesman from the Moscow-based Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK) said Wednesday.
“Experts have already begun deciphering the data of the black boxes. The deciphering will take two to three days. That’s in regard to the flight data recorder. The amount of time needed to transcribe the voice recorder depends on the French,” the spokesman said.
He added that more time would be needed for the voice recordings because conversations on board were in French.
Earlier on Wednesday, MAK deputy chairman Sergei Zaiko said that the MAK investigation was aimed at finding the causes of the crash and preventing similar incidents in the future. Russia's Investigative Committee is also conducting an investigation into the accident, considering traffic control mistake, the snowplow driver's actions, poor weather conditions and pilot error as possible causes of the plane crash.
A Falcon 50 business jet departing for Paris crashed late Monday night at Moscow’s Vnukovo-3 Airport after hitting a snowplow during takeoff. None of the four people on board – Total CEO Christophe de Margerie and three crew members – survived in the crash.
