MOSCOW, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - Hong Kong protesters plan to march to the residence of city leader Leung Chun-ying on Wednesday, to voice their demands for greater democracy, only a day after talks between student leaders and the government failed to break the deadlock, Reuters reports.

"I think it is time to seriously consider escalating the movement, such as expanding our occupation to many more places to pressure the government to really face and answer our demands," Andy Lau, a 19-year-old college student said.

Student leaders said they may not take part in further talks with city authorities and accused them of failing to make any meaningful offers to end the mass protests.

Some have called for a march to the home of the city’s Beijing-backed leader and have repeated calls to him to step down.

"The government did not give us a concrete reply and direction in the dialogue today. We are absolutely very disappointed about this," student leader Yvonne Leung said.

The talks followed several weeks of mass rallies and clashes which left dozens injured over the weekend, including 22 police officers.

The Occupy Central with Love and Peace protests began in Hong Kong on September 27, when demonstrators rose in opposition to the central government's plan to give residents the chance to vote for their own leader in 2017, but restricting their candidates to Beijing loyalists.
