Transparency International has called on the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to release the results of a probe into alleged bribery surrounding the hosting of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups by Russia and Qatar, a statement published on the watchdog's website Tuesday said.

MOSCOW, October 21 (RIA Novosti) - Transparency International has called on the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to release the results of a probe into alleged bribery surrounding the hosting of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups by Russia and Qatar, a statement published on the watchdog's website Tuesday said.

"Following the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar, respectively, it was alleged that FIFA executive committee members had taken bribes. FIFA initiated an investigation by its Ethics Committee, known as the Garcia Report, which it has now said will remain secret. Transparency International calls on FIFA to publish this report (in a form that respects the rights of individuals who agreed to give evidence anonymously) so that anyone who has been involved in bribery or wrong-doing is held to account," the statement said.

In the statement, the organization called for justice to be brought to those involved in the alleged bribery.

Earlier in September, FIFA announced that it would not publish the report compiled by the federation over the bidding processes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, stating that the investigation would remain confidential under FIFA's Code of Ethics.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the UK's Daily Mail Aleksander Djordjadze, the Deputy CEO of the Russia 2018 Local Organizing Committee (LOC) denied any such cases of bribery by saying that "no amount of money is enough to deliver a World Cup".

Russia and Qatar were chosen to host the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups respectively on December 2, 2010 in Zurich.

The 2018 World Cup will be held in 11 Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Ekaterinburg. Thirty-two national teams are set to take part in the Cup.
