Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has fears that the embassy of Ecuador in London, where he has been living since 2012, is being bugged, Daily Mail reported.

MOSCOW, October 19 (RIA Novosti) — The founder of WikiLeaks Julian Assange has fears that the embassy of Ecuador in London, where he has been staying since 2012, is under auditory surveillance, Daily Mail reported.

Julian Assange "is most likely under auditory surveillance," WikiLeaks founder's lawyers said in a statement filed in the Court of Appeal in Sweden on Friday, the newspaped said. Assange's lawyers also added that his confinement in the embassy is a "deprivation of liberty."

In 2013, a listening device was found behind a plug socket in the office of the Ecuadorian ambassador. However, "security experts described it as rudimentary and unlikely to have been the work of police or the security services," Daily Mail said.

The Ecuador Embassy in London sheltered the founder of the WikiLeaks whistleblower site in June 2012 after a British court ordered his extradition to Sweden, where he is charged with sexual assault. British police officers are stationed outside the embassy compound round-the-clock, ready to detain him.

Assange denies the sexual assault allegations made by two female former WikiLeaks volunteers and has been fighting a legal battle against extradition since his arrest in Britain.
