MOSCOW, October 17 (RIA Novosti) – In the aftermath of a major snowstorm that killed 32 people, Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has pledged to provide better weather information Friday, Channel News Asia reports.

“I want to assure that the government will make efforts to establish early warning centers for weather in the important spots across the country, especially in the Himalayan areas and along rivers”, said Koirala in a statement, quoted Channel News Asia.

Today, emergency workers resumed the search for survivors. So far, more than 200 people have been rescued, and between 29 and 32 are reported dead, AP said.

The Annapurna region is a popular tourist destination with thousands of trekkers visiting the area every October, when weather conditions are usually favorable.

More than 110,000 foreign trekkers visited Annapurna in 2013, according to The Guardian.
