VIENNA, October 16 (RIA Novosti) - A sustainable agreement on Iranian nuclear program matters more, than the meeting deadlines, imposed by the negotiators, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.
"We have never tried to fit processes to certain parameters. After all, we have to elaborate an agreement which would satisfy all parties, which would be sustainable and not subject to external action. From this point of view, the result is more important than the date," the official said on Wednesday.
Earlier in October Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the talks between his country and the P5+1 group may be extended if the sides fail to reach an agreement in time, but the US State department said it was still possible to reach an agreement within the previously set time limits.
The West has accused Tehran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear program — claims repeatedly denied by the Iranian authorities. At a meeting held in November 2013 in Geneva, Iran and the P5+1 group agreed to reach a long-term nuclear agreement by July 2014. The deadline was later postponed to November 24, 2014.
