MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Yemen's Ansarullah insurgent group (the Houthis) has welcomed the appointment of new Prime Minister, Khaled Bahah, one of the group’s leaders said on his Facebook page.

“We congratulate Khaled Bahah with his appointment as the new prime minister and wish him success in his new mission. We hope that the new government will be formed soon in order to start fulfilling the national dialogue forum agreements together, and to start building a new Yemen,” the leader wrote.

Earlier this month, the group rejected the appointment of another prime minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, saying that the United States was behind the decision.

Yemen’s Ansarullah, also known as the Houthis, is the main opposition movement in Yemen. It has played a major role in ousting former dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh. The movement staged several demonstrations this year, demanding resignation of the government, which they say is corrupted and marginalizes the Shia community in the country.

In 2012, anti-government protesters in Yemen forced autocratic president Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down after 33 years in power.

The Ansarullah movement is a branch of Islam almost exclusively present in Yemen, which has over 100,000 followers, with Hezbollah and Hamas being their major allies.
