MOSCOW, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow regards accusations of Russia's direct involvement in the situation in Ukraine as absurd, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
"We were surprised by absurd claims, with reference to some non-governmental organizations, about the so-called 'direct involvement of the Russian Federation in the situation in eastern Ukraine," spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said commenting on a recent report by UN mission to Ukraine.
The diplomat stressed that the International Committee of the Red Cross had already characterized the events in Ukraine as "an internal armed conflict."
