Outside factors will not impact ties between Russia and China, Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday quoting the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping.

MOSCOW, October 8 (RIA Novosti) - Outside factors will not impact ties between Russia and China, Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday quoting the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping.

"The cooperation between China and Russia is stable, and of long-term and strategic significance, which is not affected by the volatile international situation or (other) external factors," the Chinese official was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Guoping is scheduled to visit Germany, Russia, Italy and the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) headquarters from October 9 to 15, the news agency reported. During his visit to Russia, the official will meet with Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and other senior officials. Both countries consider one another their top trading partner and share a bond of economic cooperation, according to Guoping. Bilateral trade between the countries reached $89.2 billion in 2013 and the trading partners aim to raise the value to $100 billion by 2015 and $200 billion by 2020.

"We welcome concerted efforts made by all sides concerned in pursuit of the momentum of a political solution to the Ukraine crisis, and hope all sides will continue working to alleviate tensions through dialogue and negotiations," the official said.

Though the official praised international efforts to alleviate the situation in Ukraine, he was opposed to Western countries' sanctions against Russia over the country's alleged role in the conflict. Cheng stated China has generally always been against sanctions and that the measures "will not help to resolve problems."
