BRUSSELS, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has not confirmed that NATO's Secretary General told the Polish TVP Info TV Channel that the alliance can deploy its troops wherever it wants, a spokesperson for NATO told RIA Novosti Monday.

"We don't have a record of him saying that in English - and we're not responsible for the Polish interpretation of the live interview," a spokesperson said, adding that Stoltenberg was referring to NATO forces in general, "which of course can be deployed on the territory of the Alliance as Allies decide."

The spokesperson also noted that there is no change in NATO policy "on any issue" and that the Secretary General's interview with the Polish Gazeta Wyborcza "makes clear that there is no calling into question of the Founding Act."

According to the Polish broadcaster TVP Info, during an interview on Sunday NATO's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the following: "NATO has a strong army after all. We can deploy it wherever we want to."

Later several media sources said that the Polish interpreter had added a phrase about NATO being able to deploy troops wherever, distorting Stoltenberg's words.
