MOSCOW, October 4 (RIA Novosti) - Jamaica's Health Minister Fenton Ferguson stated that the country's entertainers, traveling to Ebola-stricken countries in West Africa may be quarantined, Jamaica Observer reported Saturday.

"I have been appealing to persons, including entertainers to avoid non-essential travel to the Ebola affected countries in West Africa. If they still decide to go, our actions may have to include quarantining persons," the newspaper quoted Ferguson as saying.

According to media records, Jamaica has been reading itself for possible cases of the Ebola virus in the country after one person was found to have contracted the deadly virus in Dallas in the US state of Texas.

The worst Ebola epidemic in history began in southern Guinea at the end of 2013 and soon spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. The death toll is estimated to be above 2,400. There is no officially approved medication for the Ebola virus, and experts claim prevention is the only cure. Several countries, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Japan are currently working on vaccines.
