KIEV, October 4 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian military personnel has completed 80 percent of the construction works at the border fortifications in the east of the country, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Saturday during his working visit to Zhytomyr region.

According to the presidential press service, Poroshenko said that about 80 percent of the first and second line of fortifications is ready.

During the visit, the president stressed the need to ensure that military personnel are equipped with winter clothing. Poroshenko insisted that the military command must address this issue until October 10.

Earlier, Poroshenko said that if need be Kiev will build on the border a modern and powerful complex of fortifications on the border with Russia. Following this announcement, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced the construction of a "real border with the Russian Federation," the project was called "The Wall," and it was expected to be finished in six months.

Experts believe that the arrangement of the border with Russia on the principles applied in Israel can cost Ukraine up to $4 billion and is unlikely to meet the deadline set by the country's leadership.
