MOSCOW, October 2 (RIA Novosti) - Fifteen people may have been killed and three injured in a blast at an explosives factory in the northwestern Bulgarian village of Gorni Lom, about 120 kilometers northwest of Sofia, AP reported on Thursday. Police say smaller explosions went on for several hours late Wednesday.

According to the country’s Civil Defense chief Nikolai Nikolov, the exact number of victims will only be known after rescue teams are able to get to the site: not earlier than 24 hours after the last blast.

The blast has also left two hydropower plants without electricity. At the moment, the cause of the explosions is not clear. However, there have already been two accidents at the privately owned Bulgarian factory, which left six people injured.
