KIEV, September 27 (RIA Novosti) – Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker have agreed to hold a business summit with the aim of attracting investment in the country, the Ukrainian government said on its website.
"The prime minister of Ukraine and the secretary of commerce of the United States have agreed on holding Ukraine-US business summit," the statement on the website said. "The prime minister has confirmed the government's decisive course toward reforms aimed at creating better conditions for investment in Ukraine."
The Ukrainian prime minister emphasized the importance of fighting corruption and conducting a tax reform.
"The government has a clear action plan in these spheres," Yatsenyuk said.
Yatsenyuk and Pritzker also agreed on cooperation in the sphere of US investment in projects concerning the energy and agriculture sectors, as well US support of tax reform and intellectual property protection.
US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker is currently visiting Kiev with the goal of discussing the reforms necessary to improve Ukraine's business climate, attract private capital, and strengthen the country's economy for greater investment and growth.
