MOSCOW, September 25 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said Thursday it had sent a list of questions about the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in Ukraine to an international panel investigating the disaster.
"Oleg Storchevoi, a deputy head of Rosaviatsiya and Russia's envoy to the investigation into circumstances and causes of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 plane crash, has sent a letter to the international investigative commission with a list of issues that need to be clarified during further investigation," the federal agency said in a statement.
Russia also insists that Ukraine must publish the flight plans of its military aircraft on the day of the tragedy, the statement reads.
Malaysia Airline flight MH17 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, killing all 298 people on board. A preliminary report on the crash was released by the Dutch Safety Board on September 9, stating that the Malaysian aircraft broke up in the air probably as the result of structural damage caused by high-energy objects that penetrated the aircraft from the outside. The full report was said to be released within a year.
The access to the crash site is a problematic issue even with the ceasefire announced on September 5, as the Kiev forces and independence supporters of Ukraine's eastern regions have repeatedly accused each other of the truce violation.
Earlier on Thursday, reports suggested that Malaysia considered the possibility of holding talks with the independence supporters, as the Ukrainian government was unable to guarantee safe access to the MH17 crash site for the international investigation team.
