MOSCOW, September 23 (RIA Novosti) - Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, Osama Bin Laden’s son-in-law, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the United States after being found guilty of plotting to kill US citizens when he was working as a spokesman for Bin Laden, Sky News reported Tuesday.
Sky News quotes US prosecutors as saying that Abu Ghaith was "a terrorist who sat alongside Bin Laden on the morning of September 12, 2001, celebrating the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent men, women and children".
In March, a Manhattan federal jury decided that Sulaiman Abu Ghaith was guilty of plotting to kill American citizens and providing assistance to terrorists.
According to media reports, US District Judge Lewis Kaplan said that Sulaiman Abu Ghaith did everything he could to assist al-Qaeda in its killing of Americans.
