MOSCOW, September 23 (RIA Novosti) - New York Police has arrested 102 climate protesters at the Flood Wall Street demonstration in New York, PZFeed news portal reported on Tuesday.
The demonstration, which has gathered about 3,000 participants, took place on Monday night. The protesters blocked the Wall Street and Broadway, as according to them, the companies, located on these streets, sponsor the businesses, the activities of which lead to the climate change.
According to PZFeed, police officers used pepper spray to calm down some of the protesters and eventually unblocked the streets. Some of the demonstration participants ended up in the police buses.
On Sunday, the peaceful People's Climate March drew more than 310,000 people to the streets of New York making this demonstration the city's largest in the last decade. The demonstrators urged the global leaders to act on climate change.
Both events happened on the eve of the United Nations Climate Summit, which will take place in New York on Tuesday.
